- Interest rate on Post Office Fixed deposits hiked by 0.2% and will come into effect from 1st April 2014.
- Sheila Dikshit appointed as the Governor of Kerala. She will succeed Nikhil Kumar, who has tendered his resignation to the President of India.
- Assam became the first state in India to observe Child Protection Day.
- Indian acid attack victim, Laxmi won International Women of Courage Award.
- Election Commission announced that Lok Sabha elections will be held from 7th April to 12th May 2014. Counting will be done on 16th May 2014.
- Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath said the entire election will be held using electronic voting machines (EVMs), and that the "None of the Above" (NOTA) option will also be provided.
- Graeme Smith, the South African cricket team Captain on 4 March 2014 announced that he will retire from international cricket at the end of the test match against Australia at Newlands. Smith is the longest serving captain for South Africa in international cricket.
- Third BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit was held in Myanmar.
- Election Commission has announced the date of Assembly elections in Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls.
- Rail link between Kilinochchi to Palai in North Sri Lanka was inaugurated. This link was reconstructed by IRCON.
- MoEF accepted the recommendations of the Kerala Government regarding ESA boundaries.
- Brazil is commemorating the 100-day mark to the World Cup by lighting up tourist attractions with the green and yellow colours of the national flag. The Football World Cup 2014 begins on June 12 with Brazil playing Croatia in Sao Paulo. Final match will be played in Rio de Janeiro on July 13.
- Technology giant Google has launched indoor maps in India that will help users browse through and locate specific locations inside venues like malls and museums.
- Switzerland may no longer be a honeymoon spot for tax evaders. A new international standard of tax data sharing is set to make things harder for tax haven networks around the world.
- The Delhi High Court today stayed the release of movie Gulaab Gang starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla across the country. The Hindi movie is reportedly based on the life of activist Sampat Pal, who formed Gulabi Gang, a group of pink sari clad women vigilantes in Uttar Pradesh.
- Current CFO of Apple is Peter Oppenheimer. He has to retire in the month of September 2014. After that this position will take over by Luca Maestri.
- As per the Madras High Court order, ONGC to pay Rs. 8.8 lakhs to a Minor Boy. Due to explosion of a pumping machine installed by ONGC Karaikkal in 2008, minor boy vital organs were damaged and were removed. Case was filed by D. Narayanasamy who is the father of the minor boy whose name is N. Jayaprakesh.
- The Government of India launched the "Maulana Azad Sehat Scheme" which would see a
