- Statue of Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw was unveiled at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt.
- India was ranked 102 out of 132 countries on the Social Progress Index (SPI) published by the US-based non-profit organisation Social Progress Imperative. This is the second publication of the SPI. The first SPI was published in 2013 taking into account the social progress in 50 countries.
- Google launched 360 degree online view of Angkor Wat in Cambodia under Streetview project.
- Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced to form an ad-hoc Committee to handle issues related to coaching and selection of Indian Boxing.
- Election Commission of India (ECI) approved the appointment of Suresh Arora as Directorate General of Police (DGP) of Punjab Police.
- Textile Minister, Kavuru Sambasiva Rao, quits from the government. He resigned on the issue of division of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Rao submitted his resignation to Prime Minister.
- Europe has launched Sentinel-1A, a satellite designed to monitor Earth for climate change and environmental damage and help disaster relief operations.
- Qatar based Doha Bank announced its first branch at Nariman Point in Mumbai in India. The branch in Mumbai will be opened as a full-fledged bank in May 2014.
- Three statues belonged to Napatan civilisation were stolen from a museum in South Sudan. The statues dating from 450 B.C were disappeared from a museum at the Jebel Barkal heritage area in northern Sudan. The museum is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Statues are small about 10-15 centimetres in height. The statues preserved the heritage of Napatan kingdom. Napatan Kingdom is one of the important periods in Sudanese history.
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed R Gandhi as the Deputy Governor for a period of three years. Current Deputy Governor of RBI is Anand Sinha.
- Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) recieved the Most Efficient Navratna Award for the year 2013.
- NASA has announced suspension of majority of its ongoing engagement and ties with Russia except for the cooperation aboard on ISS.
- Green Building movement started in India. India is in the second position after US. It has achieved a major landmark of crossing two billion sq.ft of registered buildings spanning over 2400 projects.
- Credit card base in the country grew 4 per cent in Financial Year 2014 to 20.3 million cards, according to the Worldline India Card Payment Report 2014.
- ISRO is set to send its second satellite from Sriharikota tomorrow, which would help put in place the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System.
- HR Mohan has taken over as the President of Computer Society of India from April 1, 2014. Mohan, Associate Vice-President (Systems), The Hindu, has been with the Society for over four decades. The Computer Society is the largest association of IT professionals in India with over 90,000 members and 73 chapters.
- Sahara Group expressed its inability before the Supreme Court to immediately pay Rs. 10,000 crore for securing bail of its chief Subrata Roy and its two directors, who have been in jail since March 4, 2014.
- The Tamil Nadu Government has declared a public holiday on April 24 when the state goes for Lok Sabha polls.
- Ex-Australia test batsman Marcus North says he will retire from first-class cricket to pursue wine industry business interests in Britain and to play limited stints in English county cricket.
- Videocon Telecom earned Rs. 1049 crores revenue for the financial year ending 31st March 2014. 4 operational GSM mobility business circles earned this revenue.
