What is National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)?
In order to frame a methodology to rank institutions across the country, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
India Rankings 2020
On 11th June 2020, Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ released ‘India Rankings 2020’. Rankings for the fifth time (since 2016) were released in 10 categories viz Overall, University, Engineering, Management, Colleges, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, Law, and Dental. In 2020, the “Dental” category has been introduced for the first time. In this survey, government and non-governmental higher educational institutions across the country have been included.
